What is all your thoughts on running a more recent CR 250 engine in a stock gusseted mildly modified frame(non lonestar or other after market frame) i understand mounts are going to be diffrent and all also anyone else do
i'm thinking on buying a r and running a newer cr 250 engine(proablly off a wrecked Cr maybe from Ebay) just give me sume input on what you think and what processes it might take
I love 2 strokes so much to go to a 4 stroke

I'm hoping to do the same thing, but with a 4 stroke DB engine. Does anyone have any detailed steps on what is needed for this project? It will be going into a stock guesseted '89 frame. Thanks.

dont do it. dirtbike motors arent counter balaned it will vibrate and eventually destroy the stock frame no matter how many gussets u put on. u can buy a aftermarket frame designed with the mounts u want with 250R geometry. otherwise buy a used powervalve kit or whatever it is u r wanting for an original 250R engine.

What is the difference between buying an aftermarket frame with the right mounts, or using a stock framing and adding the right mounts?

that was stupid of me there is no diff i nthe frames really
i was hoping to do this to run a mur updated engine newer ignition and newer power valve design but I guess it owuldnt be worth it

a lot. chromeolly is like 100 times stronger then a sqaure tube steel 250r frame. as for running an ubdated motor 2 strokes havent changed mutch over the rears. u r better off jus getting a powervalve kit for the 250R and being happy with it. or a big bore or whatever.

go for it,it can be done.im currently running a 96 cr250 motor in a blaster frame but i will be doing the swap in a 400ex frame.anybody close to me(hubbard ohio)can come check it out.i have eaten banshees for breakfast,z400s for lunch, and i gobuy 416ex's like they are going backwards!i get a lot of looks from my nearly 50hp blaster...lol the mx motors just rip,not detuned for quad use like everything else

Just look at www.servicehonda.com they make and sale kits. you would need custom mounts and a custom pipe and would prolly have to maike ur on breather tube and and use an 250r or 400ex air box.
