ugly warning labels removed

on the stock plastics they have those ugly warning labels saying your gonna die if you ride more then 1 person and stupid stuff like that. anyways.... after drilling the rivets out of the metal labels that hold them on i found out that honda went the extra step to make sure they dont fall off they had actually glued them on. however this didnt take much more time except for the fact that after you pry them off, without harming the plastic, there was all kind of glue still stuck on the fenders. this is the part that got kinda tricky.
after trying to just rub it off for a couple of minutes. i had noticed that this wasent working. i had to actually go and get from the house this sticky stuff remover called goo gone. which however worked really fast. after wiping it all done it actually made the plastics look alot nicer.
however there was still 1 more problem. on the front fender i think there were 6 holes on the one side and 4 on the other side of the front fenders and 4 on the rear fender.
anyways there are plates and stickers you can find on ebay to cover up where the warning labels where. which will make it look a little "custom". but i recommand taking them off makes it look way better over all.
just my nonsense for the day

Replace them with this warning label!

Good news! I was wondering how hard those would be to remove. Been wanting to do that myself but I was left with the dilema of how to cover the ugly holes that would be left.
Oregon has huge OHV permits now so I covered the warning on the right front fender with that.
Where on ebay did you find those plates and stickers??? ebay motors?
THX!

I just made some replacements out of polished diamond plate alu. and they look really good and cost me an afternoon and some rivets. Sorry no digital camera.
Posted by: Woodsrider
I been lookin for that sticker, and cant find it around here
Posted by: PDunes300ex
Go to ebay and type in 300ex or 400ex and there is a place seling carbon fiber covers for the warning labels. I didn't look to see the price but if carbon fiber is your thing...that could look pretty trick.
Posted by: MR.EX-TREME
I JUST DRILLED OUT THE RIVETS TURNED THE PLATES OVER REMOVED THE GLUE WITH THINNER AND POLISHED THEM UP (THEIR ALUMINUM) REVITED THEM BACK ON AND ADDED THE STICKERS I WANTED THEY LOOK AS COOL AS STICKERS ON THE SIDE ALUMINUM AIR SCOOPES EVERYONE IS ADDING....BY THE WAY ONE STICKER I RUN ON THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER PAD SAYS F#CK FACTORY!! LOL :blah :devil
Posted by: zuLi0
the carbon fiber plates start at like $45. pretty expensive. i'd take pictures but i seemed to misplace my digital camara. when i find it i will take pictures.
i never thought about flipping them over. only thing is i bent the crap out of mine when i tore them off. heh woops. anyways i think it looks alot better.
gojk nice sticker i like it

I replaced mine with black ABS plastic that I cut from a concrete mixing tub that I purchased from Home Depot for $5.
You can see pics of the finished product at my site below.

I am just gunna take it to a local company here and have them print them out. I don't have a price yet but I will soon and will let you know, if you want me to have them print some more let me know. I will make sure they use some sort of thick vynal or something that will hold up.

I'd like one to cover the warning label on the rear fender

also wondering if you could change the wording up a little
Posted by: zuLi0
Another thing about the plates and stickers.
if you search 300ex or 400ex on ebay you can find thin metal plates that were lazor cut that say stuff like badass 400ex or something like that, some are decent, coolest one i saw was somthing in the middle with flames. the plates are a little cheaper as well.
Posted by: nakomis0
Heres the one I gotm but it says 440ex.
Posted by: zuLi0
thats tight, what did the one that says 440ex cost ya?
Posted by: nakomis0
20 bucks. Seemed like decent price, I jsut wish the number font wasnt so 'block' looking.

Last week my dad surprised me and had a custom plate made for my quad. I guess you can take any print out and have an image transferred to a piece of copper (that's what he used). I attached an image for a greater detail. I was worried about how it would hold up, but so far so good.
Mitch
Posted by: zuLi0
how did you transfer it over to the copper plating?
Posted by: nakomis0
Mitch that is cool. How and where do ya get that done?
Posted by: Mitch_McComb
We had it done at an engraving place.
They engraved my front brake resivoir cover also.
I believe any place like that should be able to do it.
If it's something simple I don't think it would cost very much.

I will see if they can. If so what would you want it to say?
Posted by: kabd69667
What kind of seat cover is that?
Posted by:
I just want "wimp" replaced with "wuss"
Posted by:
my mom does computerized engraving it can be written into any kind of metal and is really cheap. she has made me some warning lables for my 300
Posted by: nakomis0
Tell your mom she should start making and selling stuff on Ebay. I think I should get a cut, if she turns it into a multi-million dollar industry.

Posted by: zuLi0
ME TO! I started this thread! hehe.
Do you need the metal, or do you already have it?
How much? Can you show an example?
Posted by: veddersbetter
decals work really well....I replaced my rear warning sticker with a Yoshimura decal. Fits perfectly. Take pics as soon as possible
Posted by: TDBRPH
What do you think of these? With whatever verbage you like
ie.... Kawasaki, Yamaha etc......
Later
Triston
Posted by: TDBRPH
Another option lol

Posted by:
My Mom does have her own metals to cut and engrave, but I was wrong about every metal, she can just do aluminum and brass but she has all colors of both. they would run about four to fifteen dollars i'm not exactly sure but sorry no pics we dont have a digital camera
Posted by: MR.EX-TREME
alright guys! earlier in the post i said i flpped mine and polished them well i have a scanner now so thought ya'll might like to see them!! lol!!!:devil
Posted by: MR.EX-TREME
another!!!!!! ... lol!! what do you think??
:devil
Posted by: zuLi0
Nice. But what are the holes in your fenders for?
Posted by: 2k2-300exnj
i think the holes are because he doesnt want to shave his fenders because he has nice block off plates but still likes to get muddy!
nah im jk but maybe he knows something we dont or he just had a crazy weight saving idea!
Posted by: MR.EX-TREME
yeah its the weight savings!!!!!!!!!!! lmao!! just thought it looked better than completely hacking them off!! i really started to make slots- the holes were going to be the ends of the slots but after i looked at the holes i kinda liked them!! so i'll look at them a while-- then slots the might be or - i can never rule out going with out fenders completely either!!! lol !! just having fun!! remember '(DIFFERENTS GOOD)'!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!
:devil

my cure to warning label #3
Posted by: gojk
I finally got a chance to get in and get a price on getting those stickers made. They said they would be anywhere from 3-6 bucks. I will have just one made and post a pic, then you guys can tell me if you like them and you want one. Sorry for the delay. work has been crazy.
Posted by: bermbanger400
GOJK id like to have one also when u can ok.
Posted by: racin 400
What does your right fender say MR.EX-trem?Email what it says.
Posted by: zuLi0
yea what does your rear fender say?

Posted by: Live2Ride300
what are the holes for Mr. Extreme?
is it hard to get the rivets out?
Posted by: zuLi0
no just get a drill and drill them out, the hardest part is getting the label off that was glued on there as well.
