400ex timing chain

witch timing chain works in a 400ex is it the crf 450 or is it the trx450

i have one for an 02 crf, which was only like 35 or so at the dealer. but i don't know if the trx chain will work

why wouldnt you just get the timing chain for a 400ex? lol seems that would *probably* give you the correct one.. unless im missing somthing

The CRF450 cam chain is used in built engines because of the increased tensile strength. It basically the same chain, at a cheaper price $35 vs. $75, and a much higher strength. It's not going to stretch as easily as the stock cam chain. You'll notice some side to side play, that's normal.

It is also wider, meaning it has more links, which make it probably 30% stonger than stock.

actually I thought that at first too, but once you put the chain guides in the chain fits in those perfectly virtually eliminating side play!

Pretty sure it's still there on the top of the sprocket. Either way it's well worth the time and money.
