My stock shock on my 86 250r feels like it could use a rebuild or replaced! What would be the better thing to do? Send my rear shock off and have it rebuilt to my weight, riding style, etc.? Or just buy a aftermarket rear shock?
If it would be cheaper to rebuild it...what would you guys recommend?
Thanks for any info!

Have an Elka rebuild for my R and had Derisi racing did one for an EX that a friend and I each race. Santo did a great job, he uses Eibach springs and I think race tech valves. He did a zero preload dual rate that works great, I think he also gives a discount to Exrider.com members.

from what i understand i would sent it to derisi. I am going to send my 450r shocks to him here in a few days.

Jeff@thequadshop can get you an elka rebuild and derisi can hook you up with his rebuild. Either will be cheaper than an aftermarket, I myself would try to find a used aftermarket shock. There are a ton of 250r parts flying around now.

You can find aftermarket R shocks dirt cheap these days. I believe one of those rebuilds runs close to $300. I have seen PEP ZPS go for that on ebay.
