Do you guys know where I can send my cylinder to get a midrange port for a good price? i know all the big companies like duncan... ct.... and all of them port, but I fell that you are mor paying for the name of the port job.... I am wondering if you know any local guys around you that do a hell of a good job for a good price. By the way... this is a MX 250r... so it needs a good race port job.... im thinking midrange like I said b4fore.... seeing as i got the paul turner midrange pipe and eveyrthing.

I would recommed ESR, I have heard nothing but good from them. Good prices, parts, and service!!

I also would recommed LRD.

There is a shop here in Omaha, NE. I use him a lot for jobs for other guys as well as my own stuff. Joe's machine his phone number is 402-895-0183, don't get wrong he's only a Atv, motorcycle, and watercraft shop. He built my R motor. 265cc 220psi with mid-range porting, and a Wiseco Elite piston. I told him I wanted all mid-range but still wanted a good amount of top for the straights. He has great prices and does a wonderful job. I recomend him to anyone. I run a LRD pipe and 38mm a/s and have an adjustable counterbalance carrier. ( with the timing advanced about 4-5 degrees) I can keep up, or pull a hole shot on most of these new 450's. He did a great job. Give him a call he can save you some cash. Tell him Trent refferd ya.

Check out Dentor Racing. I talked to a fella there and the guys that does the port work now is the same guy that did it for Gary back in 86 when he was racing 3 wheelers. Their prices are very fair, about $250.00 for port work. I asked why so cheap and they said that the job is only worth about $250.00, other companies just charge more because of their name.

look up "eee racing", they did an '88 cylinder that i'd like to get rid of cheap. It has a LONG power curve. .80 over with a 5 hour old piston and bore.

Why must it be old? I got it off Ebay and couldn't find any info in it. The guy I got it from sayed it won the Baha 1000. I have never ran another ported cylinder to compare it to but it sure rips compared to the stock '86 jug I had on there.

They used to port and make pipes(mid-late 80's), last I heard they were done w/ all that and centering on buggys, I quit dealing w/ them in about 96, thats why I say OLD

well my little 265 stays with esr.ct,310's and curtis sparks and lrd 265's and is a little faster then trx and yfz with pipes 302-836-2012 ask for butch. ask for a mid to top end port job with a fair amount of bottom end. you wont be dissapointed

200-300 depending on how crazy you want to get. when i say crazy i mean like milled and custom domed head(to that particular powerband the port was made for) and prolly a little extra porting in the exhaust and reed cage.

the pv's give you more bottom end so if its ported right it will have gobs of bottom and alot of top as well. so a PV will fend even betterIMHO

If your looking for a big name then I recommend Esr. There were a few members on Rriders that did port jobs like C leigh and I cant think of the other one but he had some serious drag R's. Im sure some people here can get you in touch with c leigh if you want to talk to him about porting.

Hey Beerock,

I was looking at the pictures of your cylinder and like the way they really opened up the intake. Do you know if they raised your exhaust in addition to widening it and if so what did they raise the duration to? How does it pull on the extreme top end? and fianally do you have any idea what rpm it starts to flatten out at. Thanks

yes the exhaust height was raised, I am not sure to what though.
the motor revs out really high i really couldnt tell you a rpm though, i woudl say at least 2000-3500 rpm's more then a stock jug.
