Well the bike on the left isn't the "Baddest" in the dunes but It can HOLD its own........ and it the Baddest quad that I own.

The Sparks sounds the best out of the other pipes I have had on the Raptor, that pipe being the GYT-R. The sparks has more low end grunt.

that is a badass R, but you must not go to the sand much because you don't even have your paddles aligned!! and if you do then you are probably getting a rough ride, strong vibrations and squirrly take-offs.... getting your paddles aligned is a pretty key element to riding smoother in the sand.... many don't know that...

Actually I'm out at the Pismo Dunes pretty much every weekend. One of the paddles slips on the rim half a paddle space every ride I take it out but, I have not noticed any problems with vibration or pulling on take off and it doesn't leak. I was thinking of getting either beadlocks or gluing the tire to the rim but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Actually the bumpers were already on the bike when I purchased it. I have looked on the internet and in some magazines to find out what kind of bumper it is but I have not yet been able to locate one like it. It may have been custom built because the previous owner had a stator cover custom built for it.

Oh, damn! either your 250r has more torque than knows what to do with or you might have a dented wheel... if its the torque, then good fcken job building that monster!!! I've only seen a paddle slip once and that was on my buddies dads DS 730 on Nitrous at sand mountain....

Actually you can powdercoat some plastics , they are supposed to be doing so in the automotive industry, but I don't think that atv plastics could be powdercoated ??? they would propably melt while being cured... Pappy, could you try this out please !

Yeah, I loved that 310 but it was just getting to be too much of a pain to keep a bike like it in top condition to race every weekend. I was going to keep it after getting the 450R but parted it out so I could build my 450R to the specs I wanted quicker. I do miss it, it was like riding a cadillac at the dunes and the power was perfect for slinging sand!
But, I love the 4-stroke on the MX track....a lot easier to ride and maintain

Yes it has nitrous now. I probably know who you met at sand mtn. It wasn't me but a guy I know. His has a black frame and chrome swing arms and a arms.

The guy I met has two similar builds, the forementioned CBR900, and also a CBR600 in an LT500 frame. If memory serves, I believe both were black (I could be mistaken, booze affects my memory). I do know that the 600 didn't have nitrous.

Which one has the wife that's a terrific cook? I can't remember the name, but the food was terrific. I was so grateful, my trip was spur-of-the-moment, steak, hot corn on the cob, and mashed potatoes were SO much better than the deli sandwich I had brought with me.

That's Ron's wife! I heard about that trip! They said the had some locals that they and the kids met up with. She said she ended up feeding quite a few people.

RON! That name rings a bell. I want to say his wife's name was Helen, but I could be way off. Even if I can't remember the names, I certainly remember the food!
Overall, it was a great trip. They had three younger guys with them, one named Eric with a 250r. He saw me on my 250r, and we talked a bit about motor upgrades and performance, which was how I came to be part of the group.
Eric, another young guy (Chris?), and I all met up with yet another camp about midnight or so (we heard females hooting and hollering in the camp, so we made our way over). We hung out with them until about 6am.
All in all, a pretty fun trip. If you talk to them on a regular basis, please express my gratitude once again.

kgbg- that looks a lot like our bike..is that with the +4 swinger you have now? Is it enough for the motor work your have? have any more pics of it at a lower view of the direct side of it? we are building a 480 that we hope will be pretty stout and dont know where to start with a swinger. any help would be great.

I had no luck with the trail tech lights. I would go through about 2 bulbs every trip to the dunes. The bulbs are made for interior lighting in a house....not for a quad. That is the main reason I got new plastics, so I could use stock lights.

The +4 is going on my other bike, the hill one.
My engine is a 13.5:1 470 CRF carb, CRFignition, big valves, ported, PC pipe, few other tricks, and the +2.5" is great. My other bike will be faster and lighterand so it will have the +4.

I don't ride dirt as in trails ever, but I did ride it on a atrack and it works pretty good. The biggest difficulty with it is the back slides a bit more than I would like. I ride on dirt but in the desert, kind of sandy dirt, and its AWESOME.

Thats what our bike is, a 13.5:1 480, web cam, crf carb, crf ignition, kenz porting, springs, guides, esr airbox eliminator, etc etc. i think were are going to go ahead and build a +4 prototype arm and see how it runs with that. We got our bike pretty stripped so cant wait to see it on some scales.
