on a 400ex. recently i was looking at that and noticed that it seems like the whole back section of fenders +seat has to come off for the air filter.

yes..its a good design....allows for easy cleaning of the fenders & also allows you to really get to everything o nthe rear of the quad without the fenders in the way..seems weird & goofy at first but you will grow to like it

I personally dont like that it does, seems like its hard to get it back on. But after a while, you kinda learn the trick, but it still takes a while...

only the seat comes off on the 450r

i hated my 400ex plastic/seat at 1st...took my 10 min....now it takes 10 sec

for u guys that have trouble puttin the 400ex seat back on i suggest u take the grommet off of the gas tank..it makes it a whole lot easier

I dont find it that difficult to put back on
