more database problems if anyone knows vbulletin well and mysql and wants to help please contact me: aliasx @ gmail.com

Not really a paying job since the site never did anything but cost me money, but it was just getting near the 1k members mark again and I was going to add sponsors.. .

I just have it redirected to my friend's site for now since I have no clue how to fix the damn database.. .

sorry guys, this pisses me off too

also its all licensed vbulletin [$180] and on a 100$ per month dedicated server.. .

seems such a waste

Posted by: 250rpilot

Alias I feel your pain when it comes to working on the mysql database and Vbulletin boards. I am not a Unix person, and it is difficult to find anyone to help with database issues. I tried repeatedly trying to get help from vbulletin and constantly was told we don't fix or help with problems, and look on the Internet for help???

Members don't realize how much moneyy it cost to run these sites for the server and bandwidth. Your bill is pocket change compared to what I pay everymonth, but I do have sponsors to help cover the cost. Without member support and sponsors, I couldn't afford to pay the monthly bill and still have a house to live in.

I wish that I could offer some assistance, but I am far from an expert at mysql. I have the ATVriders.com database backed up weekly to prevent such a huge problem, which ofcourse cost more money.

damn thats crazy. almost seems like members should pay a little when they sign up to help out.

if or when you get it back up will all the info be lost again? or no?

I agree 100%!!!!, He shouldnt have to flip the bill by himself w/ so many dedicated members...especially when he let us post pics and invested in it for us. Some ppl think its all about taking $$ from members and thats not the case, I mean..you have to pay rent or buy a home to stay and hang somewhere, this in a way isnt too much diffrent...

Posted by: zedicus00

wow i agree with u guys 100% all the peeps on ******** r complaining an whining becuz rriders is down and they think it is like there god givin right to jus get it for free. there was even a post about alias but it got deleted when i stuck up for him and tried to explain that it costs money and time and they jus didnt hav a ***n clu.

zed

Ive got the chance to bs w/ the guy a couple times and hes a damn cool guy, pretty laid-back, and I dont have 1 thing bad to say about the dude.... I just wish I knew more about what it takes to run a site so I could possibly help

1 morning I found Rriders and it was only up for 2 or 3 days, I was the 1st member (besides Alias) so I went around spreading the word best I could, w/in a week we had about 200 members and it felt good to help get the site going.

when it went down the 1st time we had 1600+ members(and only 2 or 3 pricks) 80% were good ppl and I made friends w/ alotta them, we had a pretty tight group and it was a site I just wanted to be part of and help any way I could.

To me (even altho somewhat small) its a site worthy of paying for a membership for all the exellent info about my R, still to this day have NEVER seen an R site hat kicked *** like Rriders for tech info on R's (besides MacDizzy)..., that and the cool ppl (especially Alais) is what makes me miss it so damn much * insert crying smilie here*)

Posted by: zedicus00

yeah i never even got to talk to alias but ive been sticking up for him jus cuz i know what its like to run a server. but sum of the peeple that had been on rriders for a long time yur talking crap about him so i was like wtf?? anyways i wish i knoew hoe to get ahold of him cuz i could offer sum help. i know a lot about computer stuff.

Many Members just don't realize the amount of work and effort is takes to keep these forum boards running along with the other site updates.

ATVriders.com has many members with 500+ Post counts and still haven't attempted to support the site that they visit almost everyday.

I'll see what I can do man

just think of the gas, airline tickets, hotel rooms ..camera gear...entry fees, then add the actual site costs and yes id say we are up there pretty good in the dollar range.

and yet there hasnt been any push to get the membership to really help in anyway. all ive seen is harlen asking for people to get some race coverage for him.

infact, i bet alot of people never even look in the race coverage section

Posted by: ZRider400

thats one of my fav sections..... i could never go to any of those races(too far)..... you guys basically bring them to me

Posted by: Pappy

i think maybe the race section should be closed....only for supporting members to view.

This site must have changed a lot since I was on here much then, because I quit coming to this website because of ignorant people bashing the ones who actualy have a little knowledge about what they are talking about.

Posted by: beerock

AWWW come on pappy, you guys have to pay a little to have fun when you go to the events. its not like its not your hobby.

hell i spent over 3000 on one trip so save me the whinin LOL

Hey JTR what kind of problems are you having logging on? maybe i can help you?

R central is not the replacement for r riders. R central is managed by a 17-18 year old kid he basically built that site because r riders kept crashing, much the same reason that trx250r.org, and prob alot of other sites poped up.

nice try though!
