Have any of you had any experience with the FCR carbs on the z400. If so what size should I use with a ported head and a 435cc kit and cams installed. The 39mm from the YFZ seems to be very available. I am going to use it for MX and I was wondering if the 41mm from like a CRF450 might be better. Thanks to everyone.

I had a 40mm on my z450 stroker and it was awesome. The 41 I believe is the newest carb out.

Im not sure why but I heard that the 39 is harder to tune but I dont believe it.

Like Snowgasm said your best bet is for the 40MM. I have one also.

Because the carb body size. You will need a flange about 2" long off the back side of the carb going into airbox boot.

The stock boot will not reach the carb.

Switching over to a 400EX air boot is not a good idea. Some people swear by it, but I conducted some tests showing the boot was getting pinched and rubbed by the rear shock during up travel.

What did you need to make the 41mm fit on to the z400. Anything special? Thanks alot guys, you are a great help. It is great to talk to people that have tried this.

i dont know if you are set on a fcr but i have a 41mm edelbrock carb for a z400 i would sell you it was raced maybe 4 races and then took off becasue i bored out my stock carburator and put it back on with a jet kit let me know if you are interested

im running a 470 kit with a fcr41 from sparks and it rips,
i also have afcr 39 for sale $350 shipped it is from sparks also it will bolt right on the stock boots work fine stock trottle cable work fine

I would really like to have a 41mm. What all did you need to make the 41mm work? Does all the stock stuff work with a 41mm carb? I will be using it for MX and dont want to give up anything to the 450s out there. I will keep the 39 in mind if I cant find a 41mm though. Thanks.

The Crf 450 comes with the 40mm. That's what I have on my 400cc w/hotcams intake dvx and it works well even with the stock bore. The GTT 450 stroker I'm getting (same as popo and snowgasm's) uses the fcr 39 on it for XC racing.
The FCR40 I have for sale will work better for you on the MX track. PM me for details.
