What do you all do for armpump as far as working out? This winter im planning on taking a pole, and tying a string to the middle of it with a weight on the end, then twisting the pole so the weight goes up and down.
Any other ideas?

The pole and rope work great. Just hit the gym and work out consistantly, hitting your arm muscles in all directions hammer curls, reverse curls, etc. Reverse curls work awsome on the forearms

CARDIO STACK and your regular workout routine for forearms. CARDIO STACK really works. Gncc Pros are starting to use it more and more

Also at the gym, if they have a hang pole where you can hang from it...that helps. The rope/pole trick works great though. Nothing beats a lot of seat time....might try making yourself riding a lil' more loose.
I try to keep a loose grip on the bars at all times but I keep my steering dampener all the way Hard so the bars dont get jerked around. But it works for me, havent got arm pump in a long time. My buddies always have a death grip on their bars when they ride....

I use it and LOVE IT!!! I also take it when I practice!

The only real cure for arm pump is riding.
I lift weights 5 days a week and had HORRIBLE arm pump after the first lap in the race this weekend. I had not ridden a quad but 4 times all this year....
The cure is not so much having bigger stronger forearms, (it helps) but getting those muscles used to the shock you put them through. NOTHING will duplicate that other than seat time and pushing yourself in practice.

Seat time and laps on the track are always #1, but during the winter, thats not really an option. Ive also heard that lifting is terrible for armpump. But dead hangs ive also heard are good, but they feel extremely awkward.

I started boxing. Hitting the bag really helps. I try to stay away from weights unless its real light and alot of reps. Only do weights in winter though not during the season. The rope and weight trick works great too. Golds Gym also has an fore arm exercise contraption that works pretty good too.

Hahaha, boxing, eh? Did you get that from the Natalie video from Innervision?

Yes and no I have a friend that boxes so Ive done it off and on and once I saw that Natalie uses it alot I started to make it part of my nightly routine.

i use to get arm pump and hands cramping like crazy. for me what worked was running a few miles 2-3 times a week. got my breathing under control and my cardiovascular system up to par. so now i don't have to have a deathgrip on the bars cause i don't tire as easily as before. some guys told me that eating bananas 3-4 days before the race also helps.

i dont get to do much riding during the winter so i lift. if i were you i would avoid doing any lifting that really works the forearms. i did the twisting the rope up thing one year and had the worst arm pump ever that year.

seriously give cardio stack a try, it helps with the arm pump along with other things
