OK i weigh about 140 pounds and i ride a 400EX. me and my bro were hittin this small jump and he hit it faster and he weighs about 20-25 pound heavier then me on his 400. he landed pretty smooth so i hit it i got mabye 2 feet of air and when i land i almost bottom out . i got it on video and we were watching it. can i stiffen up my rear and front shocks? o ya his shocks are not as stiff as mine wtf.

did you get your quad used cause it sounds like maybe your shocks could be about ready to quit mine are not that bad i can do some 40-45 footers now but its pretty much bottoming out when i land but i only way 135 so... its just a good excuse to get some Nice shocks im gonna wait till summer comes back around becuse i dont really need them until then

i bought it brand new 5 months ago. and i dont abuse it in anyway plus i dont have $1000 for some aftermarket shocks. Plus the jumps i hit i highly doubt i need aftermarket shock. so i think i just have to stiffen them up. I know how to adjust my front shocks how do i adjust my rear? thanks

they are preload adjustable and i think you can adjust the rear i dunno mine was setup good for the riding i do already any body want to tell him how to do the preload cause i got to go to lunch

It may be the way you're landing. If you land on your rear tires first, you won't bottom out as easy as if you land with both the front and rear tires at the same time. Also, if you are on the throttle when you land, it makes the rear shock stiffer.

To stiffen your rear shock, you could tighten the preload. It will make your quade sit a little higher, but it will also be stiffer. To do this, you need a spanner wrench. You see those 2 weird things above your spring? Tighten them down to stiffen your preload. It's kinda straight forward, just go for it.

sounds weird but there is definitely skill to landing. My advice land rear tires first and on the gas pretty much. Helps me a lot. I've hit some pretty insane jumps on my dads stock 400ex.

this is defintly your prob.. land with your front tires about 6-12inches off the ground when your rear tires touch and have the gas on this is the biggest deiiference between bottoming and landing clean once you get this down youll be set
