Hi I was wondering dose any body know what motor fits in the 89 250r chassis I am 14 and have a 250r and want to race but wastold I have to be 16 to race with my quad so if anybody knows what motor will fit please note.

??? I could give you some suggestions on what motor to put in the chassis like a yz426 motor but you probably still can't race with that. What size motor will the ****ers let you use then? An 80???

you can race if your parents sign you off. at least you should be able to. otherwise an 80cc dirtbike engine would be a good idea.

you can use a blaster or 300ex motor. why dont you just get a blaster or 300ex though cause its gonna cost a good bit of money to make those motors fit . and why chop up an r to do that.

Many tracks and circuits have age limits on displacement classes. You have to be at least 16 years old to race in the 250cc class, so anybody under 16 is limited to a lower class, often called the Blaster Class, Air-Cooled class, or 200cc class.

The 250r handles much better than a Blaster or 300EX, no doubt about that. A common conversion is putting the Blaster motor in a 250r chassis. This allows it to be raced in the Blaster or Air-cooled class. The conversion is a worthy goal if you're a serious racer, as you get much better suspension and handling than a Blaster can offer.

i know what the advantages are but hes not a serious racer yet. he would have been just starting so he could go out and get a used 300ex maybe put some shocks on it and race it. atleast until he could have moved up

rocky ridge racing makes a kit to put a 250x motor in there with no cutting i think its called a 250rx

It varies with different tracks and circuits. Some are 200cc 2-stroke or 300cc 4-stroke. In that case, I'd go with the blaster motor.

Others would be 200cc 2-stroke and 350cc 4-stroke. If that was the case, I'd go with the ATC350X engine.

I don't see why anybody would choose the 250X engine over a blaster motor. I suppose if you're new to racing, the 4-stroke would be a little easier to handle, but if you're that new to racing, you're not going to be doing a conversion quad. I've never done the conversion, so I don't know how much more difficult it is to install the blaster motor vs. the 250X motor, so I suppose that may be a factor. But let's face it, if you want an easy fit, why are you doing a conversion at all?
