I need help hooking up the pro design tether on my 450r. I tried a couple peoples ideas and can't seem to get it to work. can anyone tell me what wires to hook it to and pictures would be very helpfull.

Cut the harness off of the key switch. Hook the red and black wires together. That keeps your fan and light running. Hook the green wire to one wire of the kill switch and hook the black with a white stripe to the other.

Check your connections before final crimping or soldering. If you hook them up backwards it'll shock the pi$$ out of you.Happened to me and two friends of mine.I prefer the Gunner tether, doesn't have this problem.

I hooked it to the kill switch on the left light control assembly. I cut the one wire to the original kill switch and hooked it up to the tether kill switch and I hooked up the other of the tether wire to a ground. The reason why I did it this way is becase I accidentally hit the kill switch off in mid air and the nose came down pretty fast. If you want I can take pictures and them post them up here.

to keep the key.
just find the black with white strip wire that runs to the kill switch on the bars and splice in to that and with the other wire gound it to he frame!

thats it!!

O ya if you hook the wires up back words it still works but if you tuch the metal peace on the kill it will bite you.

On my 400ex I had a pro design tether and when I crashed the tether came off of the plastic piece

All these are possible ways. I was told to keep the key and NOT to hook the red and black wires together if you want to keep your ignition system for very long. This will blow the ignition system up quickly. Some will say thats not the case, but who am I to argue with Mark Baldwin, hes the one that advised me not to do it this way.

What does it do to the igntion system, that makes it "blow up"? Please explain what is the best way Mark Baldwin says to hook it up.

I may be wrong, but you have to hook those two wires together for the fan to run.Thet're not even ignition related.

My ignition system is in perfect working condition and i've had mine wired up just like in the pics for months

Well I was one of the first to get a 450r in this part of the country and have had mine hooked liked that picture the whole time also. Guess I am glad my ignition system has not burnt out!!

This is all based on what i was told via Mark, he said that it is best to leave the key and all unless you go to a crf carb setup where you would not need it. I do not know what makes it short out or blow up, but im not going to take a chance anyway. Im pretty sure that Mark knows is stuff when it comes to the 450R though.
