I was trying to order a new wiring harness from service honda for a 86 r but they only have ones left for the 88 or 89 r. I just wondering if anybody knew if a 88 would work on a 86?

im pretty sure it will work i know the 86 has an extra wire on the hareness were it plugs into the stator dont know what its for but it will work without it.

the 88 also had two extra wires for the key switch, easy kill switch hook-up. all year harnesses have the wire for the lights.

Thanks Guys, I ordered the 88 wiring harness it should be here this week. I went ahead and replaced the hole setup cdi, coil, and the wiring harness. I hope it clears up my spark issue.
