In a 400ex would it be ok to mix Mobil 1 15w50 red cap with Valvoline 20w-50.

The Valvoline wouldn't be good for wet clutches. I'd stick with the Mobile 1

why would it effect the clutch tho? sry if this is a stupid question.

the bike uses a wet clutch setup, ie...clutch plates ride in the oil. the valvoline isnt motorcycle grade, so it causes friction in the clutch. friction causes heat, and heat causes problems. so i would have to say, get another bottle of the good stuff.

The valvoline contains friction modifiers which will cause clutch slippage. The Mobile 1 red cap does not have friction modifiers and is safe for wet clutch applications.
