I used a dremel tool with a cutting disk to cut mine. Follow it up with very fine sandpaper.

i did mine tonite. i used a jig saw but didnt have any sand paper so there still choppy. my dad was questioning me how it helps to see ur tires but i couldnt explain.. ne help guys?

here's the answers:

1) Less wind resistance: At the high speeds of MX, and with the big air jumps, cutting the front fenders does help keep the air resistance down. The stock fenders are like a couple of big sails handing out there.

2) Weight: It's not that the plastic is heavy. But when you get lots of mud stuck to it, the weight adds up. Removing the plastic keeps the mud from sticking: reducing weight.

3) Visibility: One of the main benefits is improved visibility, especially when jumping. With the full fenders in place, you can't see a thing that's in front of you when you're in the air. Going through the whoops is easier with the plastic cut, too. You can see what's just in front of you easier.

when i cut the plastic for my cousin's 400, we used a reciprocating saw to get the bulk off. after that, i used a utility knife to make them symmetrical, and finished with a block plane, normally used for wood, to bevel the edges. spend the time on it, you'll thank yourself later
