does anybody know the name of the dunes in michigan. my friends have been there and hope to go again this year. they dont even know the name though. and does anybody know if you have to be 18 to ride there. thanks.

Silver lake. I think you need to be 16.

K_Fulks right it is called siverlake sand dunes and you do have to be 16 to ride. But if your 15 look older and they wont even mess with you. My dads friends kid had a blaster and he was the only quad on the trip so i had to ride with him and they would let me go through but not him, its cause you could tell his age

Someone posted last week that they were not really enforcing the sound limit now but will do so starting in May.

And yes, it sucks.

i called them and they said you have to take a safety class and be with an adult if you are under sixteen. and the noise limit is 92dbz, ill totally fail

its 94 not 92 and they told my friend that as long as your close (under 98) and have a spark arrestor they will let u in.

im getting a day off school to go to silverlake(??). ive never been to the dunes. but im only 13!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! i hope i look 15

Huge weekend up at SilverLake, the weekend before the 4th of July. Huge

The off road truck club goes up that weekend every year. Lots of sweet trucks.
Bring that 440 up there Justrace we'll have to run em.

I can do that. I really do think we should get a dune ride organized though.

Have you had that e-series tested to see if you can pass the test, nakomis0? I put the stock exhaust back on my ex (I sold my old big gun ehaust), and i need to know which pipes are passing the sound test before I decide on which pipe i want.

Ya I think that would be cool to meet some Exriders up there also.

As far as pipes, I'd really like to see how they are going to be testing during the busy season. I'm sure they are going to be a little un-organized just like they were with the voucher system they started a few yrs ago.

I'm pretty confident the e-series is going to have no problem passing. If I do have a problem with it running the 13 disks. Its simple enough to just remove a few disks to quiet her up.
I'm sure you could probably even remove the disks, put them in your pocket till you get out on the dunes and put them back on. \

But I think they are going to be focusing alot more on the drag pipes, and racing pipes like Toomies, CT or Sparks, ect.

I kinda live far from the dunes (4hrs). but I have 2 trips planed so far, one the weekend before the 4th of July, and they other June 6th.

I might be going next sunday, with a friend that went opening weekend.

I agree with you about just adding/subracting disks. I was thinking about getting the R4 with the quiet core along with a powerbong header. And once I get out on the sand dunes just take the stuff off of the exhaust.

Im planning a trip with all me buddys the weekend before the 4th so i hope to see you there Support the exriders sticker and we will stick out im gonna make a flag that has the address on it so you'll see me or just my flag lol

I'm hoping to get there sometime in the middle of this month. I always stay away from the holidays, way too many people.
some friends of mine went a couple weeks ago. like the one guy said, if your close (under 98db or so) you'll pass. they're mainly cracking down on spark arresters and insainly loud bikes.

we should get some exriders out for a weekend.

We Have a group going the weekend of sept 20, 21, 22
thats after the holiday and they relax everything then a little.
the voucher system is not being used anymore by that time and there is alot less people

if anyone is interested e-mail me and I will give you the info (when, were we stay, and answer any ??)
It would be great to meet up with some ex riders over there

I went to Silver Lake this past weekend. I just wanted to post, that if anyone plans on going this year, make sure you have a spark arrester! no exceptions! I saw a lot of people turned away. they didn't seem to care how loud you were, but you MUST have a spark arrester.
I saw a few trucks not make it in either, I don't know what standard they failed to meet.

Yeah, when I was there, A guy had some old muffelers clamped on his truck tail pipes. I stuck out the back like 3'! It looked so funny.

You still going up the weekend before the 4th? (june 27-30) I'm stilll gonna be there.

Are there any other Exriders members that are going to make it up that weekend?
