i am supose to get a blaster frame and everything but the motor for free..i'm thinking yz490 motor..what do you think

Are ya trying to fly to the moon...... That engine just might shake its self out of that poor little blasters frame...... I hope it works..... That will be one of the fastest quads around...... Good luck.....

I dunno about the 490.... Its hard enough customizing the 465 into the frame, but i would say go for it....

are those engines both 2 strokes??? If so, i doubt you will find a pipe that will work. If they are 4 strokes, make a custom pipe and ride it!

I have seen quite a few blaster 490's, never a 465 though

Posted by:

so you think the 490 is possible?

I have seen a 490 engine shoved into a blaster frame at my local dealer he was asking 4500 cdn for it, i asked how it ran and he told me no one has ridden yet.

Hate to be a blast of reality here guys, but a Blaster doesn't have enough chassis to handle the engine it comes with stock - putting a more powerful engine in a cheezy Blaster chassis is asking for an ill handling, unsafe, POS....

On the other hand, sticking a Blaster engine in a 400EX frame makes an excellent 200 (blaster) class machine for the races....

while this is for drag racing purposes only..plus the frame will be reinforced. it's not like i set out to do this on purpos but i can get a rolling blaster chassis for free and a yz490 motor cheap ...so why not??????????? it's all for fun

It would be fine for drag.... Just stretch it out.

use to have modded blaster..shaved head..big bore...awesome reeds, pipe, filter, jetting, and to top it all off....lawn mower rear tires...Blaster frames suck...thats all there is to say...Sure they are light....but thats where the fun ends...when I would get out and field ride that thing, It felt like the only thing holding it back is the frame design and suspension....The entire geometry of the frame blows monkey sack...they should come new with an extended swingarm, and wider a-arms....But thats the deal with yamaha....they got the Banshee, Warrior, and Blaster...All old and In great need of an update.....I guess they are too busy with that Raptor huh? I think it needs work too..
