I was fortunate enough to attend Round #3 of the TT in Ashtabula, Ohio. It was my first TT (pit crew - no riding for me). I have a mini Pro race report. Please remember that I am an amature photographer.
The basketball court, er starting line early Sunday morning.

It was sad to see TT expert Shane Hitt still hobbled with injuries suffered earlier this spring. He still cannot move one of his ankles. Fortunately the Goodmans had a golf cart available so that he could get around this weekend. Hopefully Shane will recover and be back to racing yet this fall.

Dave Kister held on to win with Tim Farr getting second and Keith Little third. Sorry, but no time for me to get any pictures at the podium.
I plan to add some photos from the ProAm Production race later as most of the top pros also raced that class.
Posted by: quadrcr161
great pics, looks like they have changed a few things since ive been there last.
Posted by: Craig02
Great pics, it is nice to see coverage of the TT events also. It sucks that Keith got spun out, but it looks like it will be very close the rest of the year.
Posted by: redroost85
Thanks for all the pics and info Fred!

Last year darin ogden raced mx to stay in shape for the tt series and i remembered watching him in the open and pro classes between my races and he wasn't even going full throttle and by the end of the first lap, he had a good 1/2 to 3/4 track lead on the rest of the field. every time he was there he brought like 3 or 4 bikes with him.
Posted by: 250EXking
Yes i was also at the race. Good Race. About lap 16, Little hit a tire and spun out again. might have had a chance to take farr
. as you could see, farr lost his seat half way thorough the race and road without it. did good too. i got lots of video footage of farr and keister i will get it up soon. great race and i had a good time there.
Posted by: Karizz
great coverage Fred!
Posted by: TC426EX
I was there too since Ashtabula is only 45 minutes away from me. Great racing, it looks like Little and Farr will be duking it out back and forth this year. Im pulling for fellow ohioan Tim Farr to take the title. He started in TT and it shows he hasnt lost his touch! Congrats to Kister for coming out a beating the GNC pros, he deserves props. You cant understand how fast these guys are going until you are there. This was only the 2nd TT Ive been to and I had a blast...

AWESOME COVERAGE

The ProAm Production class was basically a 15 lap version of the pro race as most of the top riders were in it. Here Pro race winner Dave Kister and runner up Tim Farr await the start.
Posted by: Bart
After a disappointing 8th place finish in the Pro main, Harold Goodman was looking for his luck to change for the better. Unfortunately for him this appeared not to be the case as his clutch cable broke as he was preparing to line up for the start of the race.
Posted by: Bart
One of the benefits of being a Pro rider is that you usually have good people around to work on your quad. Here Curtis Sparks (yes, that Curtis Sparks), dives in to help. It took them less than 3 min to tear out the broken cable, steal another clutch cable off of Harold's backup quad, and install the cable on his race quad.
Posted by: Bart
Jathan Seale waits at the line.
I didn't take any photos of the start (took a video clip instead).
Posted by: Bart
Harold's luck did improve as he pulled the holeshot. Here he is about to complete lap 1 with Tim Farr, Keith Little, and Dave Kister in pursuit.
Posted by: Bart
Farr chasing Goodman.
Posted by: Bart
Goodman out front.
Posted by: Bart
The top 4. Goodman, Farr, Little, and Kister.
Posted by: Bart
Top 4 again. None of them dared take the berm and open up the inside line.
Posted by: Bart
Goodman still out front.
Sorry if most of these pictures look the same.
1) With the tight racing up front, I didn't want to miss anything if a pass occured.
2) It was difficult to pass unless someone messed up or the guy behind was significantly faster.
3) There were a lot of spectators around the track so it was difficult to move to different spots to take photos. I think Harlen needs to provide press passes in the future.
4) I was fortunate enough to be at the race with exrider mjnova (Mike Novak) who is a very good friend of Harold Goodman. I got to spend a lot of time over the weekend with Harold and his family. They are truely great people.
Posted by: Bart
Coming out of the bowl.
Posted by: Bart
Goodman catching a little air. Harold normally likes to catch a lot of air when racing MX.
Posted by: Bart
Kister and Ogden battling for 4th.
Posted by: Bart
Harold and Tim heading down the main straight. This was a difficult picture for me to get as they are moving rather fast.

Battle out front. Where were the exriders.com banners?
Posted by: Bart
Another shot of Harold.

Goodman holds on for the ProAm Production Class win. Tim Farr took second and Keith Little third.

On a sad note, a young child (I believe 8 years old) was hurt Sat night at Pine Lake. The story that I heard was that another kid was attempting to ride a mule ATV and ran over the child. I heard that he had a broken pelvis among other injuries. A slightly different story of what happened is on ********.com. Whatever happened, I just hope that he recovers soon.
It's a shame as Mr. Fischer (the owner of Pine Lake) announced that this year's races would be the last. Although he has said this before, this time it is likely to be true. In this great country of ours, chances are Mr. Fischer will be held liable for the child's injuries instead of the parents who were not supervising their kids. I'm glad that I at least got the chance to visit this awesome facility one time. Hopefully it will not be the last.

great coverage Fred!!!

Man, that's gonna suck if that is indeed the last race they are gonna run at Pine Lake.
That place has a lot of history...what a shame.

FRED:
On a good note, the child is doing great and is expected to make a complete and good recovery with no major things wrong with him....ended up having NO fractures at all just scratched and bruized pretty good....as for the story yea thats a tough one.....one story is he got run down by the Mule and the other story is 2 jack asses were playing tug of war with thier trucks and backed over him....either way, where were the parents!! and for the entire pike bike riding BS i think is getting out of hand and way out of control those thigns should be banned from the tracks but, thats just my feeling.
Posted by: Bart
MXDAVE,
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that the child is not hurt as bad as I had heard and is going to recover.
As a semi-responsible "adult" (I'm 36 going on 13) pitbike owner, I may not like the banning of them at tracks but will abide by the rules if that's what it takes to keep the races going.

Anyone get pics of Roy Bresnahan he rides a yellow DS 650 #02
Posted by: Bart
Amature photos coming on Thurs. Look for a new thread. I believe I have a photo of him.

AWEOME pics Fred!!! glad to see some TT, that track looks fast thats all I can say!! Thats too bad about the kid, parents REALLY need to watch thier kids better!! My lil one is @ my side or in the stands(more often) w/ his Nanna
I just get way to nervous w/ all the riders @ the races who knows whats goin to happen

Good coverage Fred...
The GNC series needs to do away with pit bikes and pit riding like the GNCC's have done..
Posted by: 250XBanzai
This was awesome coverage! You should go work for CNN
Keep up the good work!

Great job Fred!
I'll chime in here and have to agree with the others, the pit bikes should be banned. At the 2003 Daniel Boone GNC they were all over the place. The main roadway passed the concession stands is busy enough with people walking around and then you have people on pit bikes racing around and riding wheelies. If it were official business than I'd be OK with it but two 14/15 year old kids following each other around and laughing as they try to roost each other isn't official business.

I was wondering this also! Your coverage was AWESOME! Im glad to see someone posting some TT !!!!
your pics were VERY good.......
Posted by: redrunner
I was invovled with a club in thae local area last year and had a couple of chances to ride that track. Indeed it is fast, I can't imagine how much fun it would be to ride it on a properly set up quad. Very sorry to hear that Mr. fischer will be closing down. There are a great set of wooded trails surrounding the track for playing around and a small mx section. Boy if only the $$$$
