My boy got his birthday present a couple days early. Dad couldn't wait.
He was so excited when I threw him the keys. He was just asking the night before about a key chain I had so it was a perfect setup for the gift. Here's a few pics of him and his sister having fun. Tim says thanks to Pappy and Codeman

Thanks. He was practically speachless at first. I don't think he believed what was gong on until I showed him that it was sitting out back.

Thanks. It's cool to watch him race his sister. I didn't get picks of their drag races but it was close. His reactions are better otherwise he'd be beat. Somehow our Polaris 90 is faster than the Eton.
He is able to make it around his sister on the trails though. It ends up being a good race between the 2.

the polaris 90 is a might fast little machine. they are very fast in our racing circuit

I'm about to do the bobcat thing myself. I don't have much room but enough for a couple small tables.

good luck with it,and you might want to rent the bobcat for a day longer, there are a whole chit load of fun to mess around on,lol

He doesn't seem to mind that his sister has the faster quad though. He's still the faster rider.
He said he wants to keep the quad that's been raced. He thought it was pretty cool that Cody had raced it. I showed him a bunch of recent race pics. He smiled and said...cool.

Thats awesome!
I love seeing all these pics of the real beginers! Cant wait to see some pics of the tables you make and them hitting them..

Awesome pics.Is that Viper 50 tires and rims you have on there.I thought it was just a 50 but I'm assuming its a 90.Also looks like its been widened out?

Thanks. It is a Viper 90. I think they are 50cc wheels. They were on it when I bought it. I'm planning to put better ones on soon. It has Hetrick +2 a arms with Works shocks on the front. It handles good but I think better tires will help. It's also had a clutch upgrade.
I'm still trying to find out why it's slower than our Polaris 90 though.

Perhaps the smaller diameter 50 tires are slowing down the top end a little.50s had 16 inch tires where the 90s have 18 inch.

I thought it was the tires too so I switched them from the Polaris and it got even slower. I'm thinking either it's due for a top end rebuild or the clutch kit isn't working well with the stock pipe. I haven't checked the compression yet. If it needs rebuilt it's getting a big bore kit.

replace the reeds first. i ran this past one of the guys we race with and he said he had similiar situation (he has 4 etons) and replacing the stock reeds did wonders!

Hmm... that makes sense. I'll give it a try. But aren't they the same engine as the Polaris?
Posted by: oldyeller
No the engines aren't identical.I'm pretty sure the polaris is almost the full 90ccs (89 I think) and the E-ton is only 82.5ccs.The E-ton has an 18mm carb and the polaris only has a 16mm so theoretically the E-ton should be more of a top end revver with the polaris being a little stronger on bottom end.Of course there is so many other things that affect this(weight, gearing, transmission effeciency that this may not be true in stock form)..Also changes in the exhaust pipe shape etc would probably be enough with the different carb to make the engines respond to different needs.

Thanks for the info. What you said makes sense but the Eton isn't just getting beat in the low end or the high end. It's getting spanked all around. My daughter on the polaris can literally toy with my son on the eton in a drag race. I can even beat my son on the eton while I'm on the Polaris and I weigh 200#.
I haven't checked to see what gearing differnces there are so that's a possibility. I did notice the silencers are slightly different. You are right about the Polaris being 89cc so if the eton is only 82.5cc then that's probably where the extra power is coming from. I have noticed the biggest loss with the eton is on top end power though. It takes off quick but it seems to fall flat on the top end.
Thanks for the help. It's just difficult seeing my boy's quad get stomped on by his sister's. His skills combined with the suspension do keep him much faster on the trails though

I'm trying to get your E-ton figured out.It sounds like it has a clutch kit of some kind in it?Anything else non stock?I'm wondering if that is killing your speed although you'd think you would have lots of bottom end or lots of top end,one or the other unless its just a bad setup.Yes check your compression. Our 90 is about 120psi on the electric starter when cold with throttle wide open. Our cousin has an 02 Scrambler 90 X and it seems very close to the viper in speed. The Scrambler will seem to spin more on takeoff as if it had more bottom end power but in drag races they are very close with no clear winner between the two.The exhaust note on the scrambler is much louder although the silencers look almost the same the scramblers outlet is a little bigger.Keep looking on that Viper there's some speed in there somewhere looking to get out. Can't have your son getting beat by a girl.Especially his sister!!!!
Like my son says at the races,"boys rule, girls drool" and then he gets his butt kicked by lots of girls..LOL.
