Does anybody know or think that the GNCC ATV race at Sparta on 9/12 is going to count towards the points championship?

Posted by: quad_45

Probibly, they will probibly through out the one that was held and replace it with the new one, for me thats good, but I am sure others won't be too happy.

Posted by: jb500ex

thats good for some off us that missed the first half of the season. how's it going stef

Posted by:

Jason W from RP said they will have some info about this real soon that there email and phones are being flooded with the question "Will sparta count for points". That was a week ago so I"m guessing they are having a hard time coming up with an answer.

I hope they do count it.

Posted by: Karizz

yea, i hope it counts too.I just read the rules on class championship and you need atleast 9 races to qualify for year end class championship and a natl #,....meaning you could finish in the top 10 of your class for the year ...but if you only raced 8 races the whole year you dont win anything.Reason im bringing this up because,This was my first year racing GNCC and i didnt think i would do as good as i am so far,I raced 4 races and im 12th in my class and not to far away in points from 10th-5th positions...but there are only 4 races left...5 if you add Sparta...see what im gettin at?

I"m in the same boat as you man that's why i'm hopin for points also....

Posted by: Jamie@Cardiostack

I was told at the wisp that the points weere not going to count. That info came from Philbilly.. Everyone knows Philbilly.. He said he had just got done talking to racer productions about it...

Posted by: Dan229

I just called the guys at RP and they told me they still haven't decided one way or the other. I hope they do count it towards points and a national number

Posted by: lshonda310

I was with Philbilly, and Rita said no, it would not be for points, she also said that alot of people have budgeted the year for 14 races and it would not be fair to them to add another race for points

Posted by: cheetah

We asked at the Wisp and they told us NO, it will be a fun race. They may change their minds though because I'm not sure what kind of turnout they will get for a "fun" race.

Posted by: popo

Who really knows, the rules seem to change. Yes one day.. No the next.

Kind of leaves you guys/gals on the east coast that drive 10 - 12 hours out of the loop having to coordinate schedules etc.

Posted by: seamonster

I, too, hope it counts for points....the group I race with has every plan to race Sparta II, but only if its a points race...if the points dont count, none of us will be there....we want to race this but it has to count for something to spend the money and time, if not we could race local....maybe the points should count if you didnt race the first one...that would be great....

Posted by: Doibugu2

If it's a "fun" race, then no entrance fees or racing fees, right?

I highly doubt that

Posted by: CatMostFeared

I might go even if it isnt a points race.I'll still make the long hard drive.

Popo look at this.

Posted by: jb500ex

i will go if it counts i wont go iff it doesn't

Posted by: BSTURDIVANT

There was talk of another throw away- that's the only fair way for racers that endured the mud and gained points! Budget or not, another throw away benefits all racers. It's our option whether or not to make the trip!
We dont run for fun and a non-points race won't draw the racers or the payimg fans ro root them on!

LMFAO

Yeah all 30 minutes to the track..

Even if they don't race for points, I"d be willin to bet 3/4 of the racers would still show up.. You think any pro's, pro-am, or A riders are really going to miss this race because of points.. I'm there either way but not having it as a points race will not keep racers from showing up..

Posted by: 240GNCC400

i know some people want another points race because theyve had a bad race. i dont think that's fair to the people who have been consistent. (by the way, im not one of them, i didnt get any class points out of KY).
and if the gncc is suppose to be the premeir national series it would seem kinda hoky to me to have them add another quad race just because they want the money. how many other national series for other motorsports add races in the middle of the season?

and i hate to tell you guys that are hoping for another race because you got a chance at a top ten.. unless you finish in the top 5 in your class you dont get anything at the end of the year.

well, you get to pay $25 and a trip to morgantown for another $2 piece of wood. if you want some good stuff gotta come in the top 5

I will be there, points or not. I think that you are right that they will still have a good showing, because most of the guys around here only hit the Ironman, Sparta, and maybe a couple others, so they are not running for points any way and are glad to have another close national to race at.

Posted by: ZapsRacing

Prolly the only reason the quads are gonna have their fun race is because that is money in their pockets, they will have the track set up, vendors there, so they will jus go ahead an race'em.

Posted by: Meek

If it is not for points, I won't be there

Posted by: GNCCer

I'll be there either way. I don't race for points anymore. I race because i enjoy racing. I will enjoy that race weather it counts or not. Plus it will be good practice after the break for the last three races!

Posted by: bradley300

i'll be there, if its not for points, i might see what the 300's got in the four stroke b class, its all for fun anyway, right?

Posted by: Braff1

Since they are not racing for points I think they should try to get honda to sponsor a race similar to IROC and say the top 20 riders all get stock 400 ex's to race and let the true best man/woman win.

Is there really any doubt who the best racer is?

Yep.....Johnny C!

Posted by: quadracer12

if its just a fun race i think they should put the pros on bone stock bikes. im sure some sponsors would step up and let the pros borrow a quad. also switch the morning and afternoon classes. i would love to get a chance to run on a smooth highway like the morning has.

lol...can you see the bill after the race

40 new tires and rims
20 new a arms
several engines
frames
plastic

lmfao...not too mention the medical bills from riders overriding a stock machine!

but it would be a cool bit of carnage to watch

Posted by: cliq20

that would be a cool race. the "400ex quad series". you could see how much $$ really does matter...

Posted by: GNCCer

I think that would be a really fun Idea. If the race is just for fun add a couple classes. one of which a PRO TRUELY STOCK CLASS. I think that would be really fun to watch and see how the results turn out!!!!!

Posted by: Karizz

Its OFFICIAL! They announced at John Penton GNCC ...that the SParta II is NOT GOING TO BE a PoINTS RACE! But they did promise that it will be a special race for the Quads. They said they'll keep us informed through their website!

Posted by: lukester720

I might head out there just to try it, sounds like there might not be as big a turnout as usual.

Posted by: soilworker

I just might have to go to that. I went to the first one but broke my starter clutch gear on the Dale on the first lap and couldn't start it. Now I have the 450R so maybe I'll go. I've got family 45 minutes from there I could stay w/.
