Cracked My Frame

Well i went to ocala and was showing the cannibal to some guys with 400s and we found a big crack. the bar beside the bottom of the engine cracked all the way in half

. this is only my 3rd real ride, the other times i have just ridden it around the house. if i have to pay for this i am going to sell it and get a 400ex or a crf450.

I have pics but i don't have them developed. i was just doin some fast trail riding and jumps about 7 feet of air or less. this is bad.

It's almost fate that the frame cracked on u crackfish; this is because of all the 400ex bashing you have done on EXRIDERS.

man that stinks hopefully they fix it for ya i still think cannondale has some bugs to work out of ther bikes cause there is always something wrong with them i just think i would wait another year before i got one

i called the dealer and since it is not under warranty i might have to pay for it. if so, i think i will go to two wheels.

i already tried, they said since it was not under warranty i would probably have to pay for it

I would raise He!! if my basically brand new 7000 dollar quad frame broke.

That really sucks. Best of luck getting it fixed. And post a pic as soon as you can.

Where is the crack exactly? Isnt it aluminum? wouldnt it bend first? or did i break at a weld? Can it be rewelded?

aluminum cracks, steel bends.

yah aluminum is a softer more fatiging metal than steel. Probably won't be able to weld it and will probably end up having to buy a new frame.

yup most likely. hate to say it but you got ripped on cannible if they don't give you a new frame. I would only think it would have a few frame peices seeing you might lose some strength out of bracketing the peices or whatever they did.

Catfish, if I read your post right you said it's the bar below the motor? Doesn't the motor sit on a removable subframe? Couldn't be that expensive to replace.

I'm not going to bash Cannondale but this was a question that many were asking about the rigid aluminum frame.

Also, thought the EX was too slow for you?

Catfish, I was just over at The Confusion and a lot of your Cannondale buddies are doubting your story. You're going to have to post pics of this because many people aren't going to believe you. This looks like a way out of owning the Cannondale and a possible way into a 400EX. People are going to say you lied about ever really owning the Cdale in the first place.

I think aluminum is just plain to weak to use on a quad frame myself considering how many differant area's and differant directions of force you see with quads. I think it will be alright once cannondale starts to refine them more.

Well I was just reading 4-WHEEL ATV ACTION (February) and they have Kory Ellis' Cannondale with a stock frame. Leager +3 T-pins PEP shocks and a few other things. I am sure he has jumped alot higher than 8ft with it. It seems he would be more likely to break a frame racing in then someone who just rides. I'm not saying your a liar but your story sound alittle "fishy". lol

K&K, aluminum can be welded like any other metal. They welded it to assemble it from Cdale

I didn't know Tonka was making a Quad yet.

First off if you don't have pictures of a critiacal failure of a part, don't post about it, I have a 2002 Speed, I'll e-mail you the pics of it with the registration to prove it's mine, you do the same.

Lots of Cannondales have been sold and yours is the only one that cracked jumping 5' with a 125lbs rider on it. Lots of riders have been beating the **** out of them on a track long before you ever saw one, it's called R&D.

It cracked on the motor support?

I walked out to mine and the area you indicate is cracked is not under any real load. The motor is supported up front by several a large Aluminum Solid Rods tied into the main frame, and the rear is supported by that huge down bracing.

I think I found out where the Crack is, your pipe.

No Pictures = No Proof I'll send you $15 once you post them.

Just weld it , if its done irght it will hold.
My frame isn't alunimum but I have cracked it once by the left foot peg , once where my swingarm pivot goes through, I have broken bolth of my front motor mounts , and my bearing carrier.

Crappy posted his plight on the connection and an actual guy who works at Cannondale wants the fish to call him. He said the cannondale frame is bulletproof and there has never been a cracked frame before. We'll see what happens i guess.

Ummmm if I was left with that decision, I would be with what you call "dill -nameless"....I dont care if you give me a warrior for $1000 less than a 300EX.....brand new even...I would NOT buy the warrior. I assure you that I would spend the extra $$$ and buy the quad that I WANT. Probably what that kid did. Its not that hard to figure out. If anything you look biased by this post...take another look buddy....

Well, when I buy something, I do not want to have my used lot of items. Why buy something else (that you dont want), deal with the PITA of selling it for more (if you can) then try to find the quad you want.... just buckle down and buy the quad you want. I guess what I am saying is...if you tried to sell me a brand new warrior for under dealer cost...I would not buy it. For my two reasons listed....dont want a used lot of items and personally DO NOT like the warrior at all. (note I said WARRIOR and not YAMAHA). Anyways...this is getting a bit off topic here.... We will just agree to disagree.
