What happened to the DVX?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Did the DVX just fall flat on it's face or what? I haven't seen any of them racing nearby or I haven't heard of any pros riding them and winning. I don't own one but I was just wondering what ever happened to them? They seemed to be OK quads, certainly thought there'd be more of them out there though.

Posted by: Mxjunkie

i dunno, i was wondering that too, maybe because of the brand?

Posted by: QuadJunkies

I dont know whay they arent so popular....those quads are a kick!! And they get up and GO! They arent a power house but they hold there own......

Posted by: cheetah

There was one pitting next to us at the Patriot GNCC.

Posted by: roostin_dale

I've only seen two here in Wisconsin...one at a dealership and I just saw one on a trailer today in a parking lot with a Z400 and Blaster. They look pretty sweet in person, don't know why there isn't more of them out there?

I've sat on one before at a local dealer he said i could ride it around the parking lot while my dad was working but they had the battery out of it and i didnt feel like push startin it.

We had bought one from my mother for mothers day. I have only seen 1 other one since we got it for her. They are pretty nice bikes.

Posted by: honda_racer_713

That is one of my friends' quads. He did it up for a photo shoot for somebody. It is the same quad (red/silver & black/silver) just 2 sets of plastic.

Posted by: USAMoto00

For some reason when I was looking at the photos page, they weren't showing up on there...but I just looked at it again today and they were there. Weird. Nice DVX's...definately look different.

They stopped making them?

Posted by: TheMachine

They're definately nice looking quads. Are they made by Arctic Cat or what?

Posted by: Dice Wiley

good lookin ride---- needs to be priced better

Yea they are, but they are the same exact machine as the Suzuki and Kawasaki...just different plastics.

Dice Wiley...I think they could be a couple hundred less, but probably not anymore than that...they are the same price as the 400EX used to be and they are more powerful with liquid cooling. I'd take one over my EX anyday.

Posted by: gyii

Arctic Cat still makes them.
They come Red/Red, Red/Black, or Lime/Black.
Since the fenders are removable, they sell different colored fenders...even chrome ones.

They are a Suzuki Z400. Different plastcs, reverse location and a Way different seat. More like a bike.
I traded my Z400 for a DVX and swaped all my parts. Bolted right on. Same machine.....except looks way better. Side by side, the DVX makes the z look old.

I will admit, they look similar to the 450R, but they were released months before the R.

It's tough for AC to get their quads in the racing scene so soon, but If they see the potential growth in quad sales, as they should, maybe they'll push it like they do for the snowmobiles.
Arctic Cat

i should have worded that better--------- without the advertising or exposure of the "Kazuki" they need to sell them cheaper to get some out in the eye. best sellin tool is word of mouth. but then again, i guess u cant undersell the people supplying u the quad! my trail machine is an Arctic Cat and i LOVE it------- it's a freakin Cadillac! i think to myself when the Suzuki Z450 comes out in April(??), hopefully AC will get a clone and i can get a "sponsored/loner" ride to compete on for 'em! if it can go like Doug Gust's----- i'd be proud to race that bad boy!!

Posted by: fastblaster2002

Yep me too. I'd take a YFZ over an R anyday...except I haven't ridden an R yet, but from the sounds of it, the YFZ would suit me MUCH better.

the YFZ is my weapon of choice! i bust bigger every time i go out---- just a quick tweak of the shocks and i go from the track to hittin my buddies ramp. life is good upon a YFZ!

Posted by: 250rmike

i sat on a yfz the other day andthe bike was nice but the seat was terrible. if they redid the seat the bike would be almost perfect for a factory machine

They actually did redo the seat for the 05's, they also fixed some of the problems random people were having.

Seems like the YFZ would be the perfect MX factory machine to have...sure wouldn't mind getting my hands on one .

Posted by: gyii

Maybe you guys should start a post about the YFZ-450. It's fast and less expensive to make race ready. Dominant on the track. Can't miss the praises every month in all the magazines.

Posted by: tmk4914

isnt the artic cat identical to the z400 but diffrent plastics like the kfx?

Posted by: gyii

tmk4914, the plastics on a kfx are the same as a z, different color.
The DvX body is entirely different, even the seat. Check out the entire post....you'll find a picture of mine.

Posted by: 250rmike

the plastic seat and the swingarm is different

I saw one the other day, we got this new store down here called "Gander Mountain" they sell everything outdoor, guns, arctic cat quads, camelbacks, camping all of that stuff. Bad thing is they only sell the cats, no big dogs there. Thats the only place I have seen them though.

We've had a Gander Mountain around here for a year or so...probably more, but my memory is really bad about those things...I think something was a year ago, ends up being 5 .

I get the feeling that you're trying to be clever. Good for you!
That's too bad about the lack of "big dogs."
What's a camelback?

I very seriously doubt it.

I don't think they would go that extreme after everyone saw what happened to Cannondale. Never trust anything out of a magazine, usually just someone talking out of their *****...unless it's actually from someone that is with Suzuki, then I would believe it.

Never know though, Suzuki might kick it up a notch higher than the Honda and Yamaha 450's just to put in some competition .

Posted by: 250rmike

only problem with a mx ready one they would also have to design one for xc because they cant just cater to one crowd its just not good for business. also the people who are weekend warriors and like suzuki or want the best and a mx ready bike wouldnt be good for them

Posted by: flyin#5

at the last race i went to there were 3 dvx's. they seemed to do well and looked pretty cool

That's what the Z400 is for .

Posted by: DVXRULES

I wouldn't trade my DVX for any other type Quad. Of course, I'm older and I like the smooth ride. I've ridden my kids EX's, Banshee's and Pred and this old body sez, stay with your DVX. I'm use to the 4x4 rides of the cats, so just stayed with the cat brand. Power wise, with the Yoshi exhaust and some fine tuning it runs good enough for me and seems to be ol reliable when the kids' EX's and Pred's break down, you don't hear them complaining about riding Mom's Quad.

^^^^^^ listen to him hes a smart man....... the dvx is awesome even tho they r a lil heavy it dont seem it cuz they just float thru the air and the seat is comfy to for those haaaaaard landins but anywways the dvx is deff. wayyyy better than the z IMO
