I bought a 400ex a while back and now I am thinking about selling it but I don't know what year it is. The frame # reads 478TE290524212774. Someone said that the tenth letter was supposed to indicate the year but mine is the number 2 so whats up. I though I saw a chart in a post a while ago but this search engine will not let you search less that 4 letters so typing in vin is no good. thanks for the help

post a pic i can tell you what year it is by the stock decals and seat cover....if it has sportrax on it then its got to from 01-recent....fourtrax is 99-2000.....

not always, mine says fourtrax but it is a 2001, i just have a diffrant seat cover. it might be the same in his case

yea but if it hasnt been alterd i can tell...simply because every year honda changes their decals on side the bike
