Did you buy it from a dealer??? I'd be taking it back to see WTF?? If you bought if from a private party that's a bummer then I'd be pissed
Good Luck

i got it from ask powersports in columbus ohio. it threw fire and sparks out the hole 2 to 3 feet from the motor, they said they will only fix the head gasket and that is it they are not even considering looking at the rest of the motor and not taking the quad bact or giving me another one! would you want a new car if it had motor trouble in the first 30 minuets of you driving it?

I would make sure they fix everything caused by the head gasket. If they don't I'd sick a lawyer on their ***. Is the wuad brand new or used?
Posted by: atl855
it was new, i have contacted a lawer and he recomends me sewing for pay off on everything i have purchased from them to cut all ties with ask powersports

Never thought I'd say this but I'd go with the lawyer's advice. Just make sure it's enough to cover the attorney fees also. Good luck man.

It has a 6 month warranty, of course they will cover it. Or another Yamaha dealership will. It will all work out in the end.

I think I would be getting a hold of the Yamaha district repersenetive and giving him a earfull on the yfz and the dealership.

take this problem to yamaha warranty department not exrider yfz forum we cant do anything.

If they aren't willing to cover it, then there's something more to the story. Just my gut feeling!!

Call yamaha. Don't go through a lawyer. quote:

Thats what I think to because I have never heard of a blown headgasket doing that before

You shoulda bought it from Lancaster Sport Cycles, im sure they'd be more helpfull than the dreaded ASK. If you buy another one definitely go to LSC IMO. But ya I think Yamaha should cover it.

thats a bummer bro. get on the phone with yammy. be courtious. they will take care of you. That is a fluke incident due to either a bad headgasket, improper install or something seriously wrong somewhere else. I and practically everyone I know is racing cross country on a yfz and we all push our bikes to the EXTREME and that is the first i have ever heard of one blowing a headgasket. Good Luck. Matt

I was referring to the dealer not backing the quad with the problem....However, he has kind of disappeared now hasn't he? Good call!

Yup, it's really hard for me to believe that the dealer would flat deny warranty work after such a short time...I'm sure mother Yamaha would be curious to see why their latest & greatest blew up in 23 minutes...
The guy was a troll, plain & simple!

People known for false threads, if known to be false, should be banned or suspended. We hope to have truthful info on the forums.......Yes, any dealer would want to get into a machine that actually had that happen to get to the cause of the failure. And Yamaha would probably replace the engine to get that one back to their R&D Dept. for close inspection. A motor that blows in 23 minutes is BAD for a reputation, but why doesn't atl855 reply to his own thread? Is he serious, or is this just something that he posted when he was bored?

This entire thread could be summed up like this.... SOME PEOPLE NEED TO GET A LIFE!!!!
If you need to start a flase thread about ANYTHING to make yourself feel better, you are a poor example of a human.
People like this are the reason we went nearly 12 years with next to no new sport quads. Way to go there skippy!
