well~ after washing all the mud off my quad from my race yesterday i realized ive got some quad issues~
my rear barings were squealing all through the race yesterday and i knew they were bad~
now my rear tires have a wobble when i roll it and the left tire is rubbing on the nerf bar (nerf bar isnt bent i dont think) i dont notice a tweek in the axle~ but my chain is VERY loose and i tighten'd it before the race~
anyone tell me whats if they have a clue whats wrong? can bad barings cause extensive damage??
Posted by: JOEX
Put the rear end un a stand of some sort, make sure it's very stable, run it in gear and look to see if something is bent.
If you let the bearings go too long the carrier will get toasted.

then the axle strips right?
Posted by: 400exmom
well after joe told me to put it on a stand and run it~ i went out to the garage to tighten the chain back up and half my carrier where i can adjust my chain is broken off and gone
i rode over half the race with it broke i bet from all the noise its makin~ im drivin up to ottawa to grab a carrier from 1fastprototype and keeping my finger crossed i can fixed this dayum thing before my race this sunday~ thanks for the tip!

Once you get the new carrier installed put it on the stand again to see if anything else is messed up. Just for peace of mind
If the axle and/or rim is bent it probably wont hurt for the short term.
When you get the new carrier ask if it needs to be lubed internally, if it's aftermarket. Do not lube the outside, spray it and the swingarm cavity with WD-40 and slide it in.

joe~ its his stock carrier he said its like brand new he took it off to put on an aftermarket one~ what about gasket replacing for this project do i need to get one? (the rubber o ring thingy) or are those usually already on the carrier?
Posted by: JOEX
I don't think any of the aftermarket ones use the o-ring. If he has it use it but if not I wouldn't worry about it. Just remove the carrier and clean it periodically.

C-clamp? I'm not understanding what you're doing...
I don't need a c-clamp with my yamaha or suzuki!

LMAO hahahaha
dish soap and a toothbrush will get the grease from your fingernails. And a box of latex gloves will prevent it the next time. I have learned to keep my hands clean, even as a mechanic. My wife hates dirty fingers

Just something different.
Long story.......

Think JOEX should change his name to TURTLEX?
400exmom, that was the best laugh I ever got from ex riders. Glad you figured out where to find some more room for your c - clip. lol. Now you'll know exactly what you're doing when it comes time to swap it out for a new one.
Best of luck at the races!
Now please go wash your hands.
You too TURTLEX!
