OK, Call me stupid....What happened to the old "Stick the dipstick in the crankcase and check the oil level" We just got this used 400ex....Great quad, but I am having trouble checking the oil....I let it idle for about 5 to 10 minutes....Shut it down and stick the dipstick in the tank (Do not screw it down) Oil level should be between the lines...Preferrably to the top line.....If not...Bring it up to the top line.....Right? If this is right...Why in the hell do they do it like that....I read something about a dry sump engine....Can someone explain this to me....? Every other engine that I have had, you just stick the dipstick in the block and read it....Help me !!!! Thanks

its a dry sump...the oil is held inside the reservoir in foront of engine...it pumps it to the engine...jsut make sure its reading on the dipstick after it idles for 3-4 minutes & then sits 2-3 minutes
