Congratulations Jeff!!! As I ran toward the podium to see who were the top finishers, I couldn't run fast enough when I realized that you were on the podium. It was awesome to see you excel at a race that was made to order and in your hometown.

Also, Traci Cecco had an incredible race herself with a 1st overall and close to a three minute lead over 2nd overall. Traci showed her awesome riding skills and I am very proud to have Jeff & Traci as EXriders.com Members and friends.

Where did I get around you?

I would say it was somewhat after the Creek section..

I got stuck so bad on the first lap that I could not even pick my quad up. By the time I got out I was exhausted and just in it for a trailride and hoping for a huge bottleneck to make up lost time - but no luck.

It still amazes me that you did not even pit for goggles. gloves. etc during the race.

Posted by: Wingnut

Great job Jeff. That second lap must have been awesome for you, passing all those guys.

How about a doing a mud riding seminar sometime soon?

Spider grips and big hand guards helped out a ton there.
As for goggles, I tape a lense to my helmet visor to help block the roost. I only used about half a roll of film on the goggles.

Posted by: 300exOH

Congrats on the win!

I'm guessing those Knarly MX's are working out well?

Hope to see you on the podium some more

Great race Jeff! You are an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others. Just shows that us "mid-pack" pros can bust up the podium party! Let's keep it going and create some more upsets this season.

You ever wonder how Jeff would do if he could get the Dale started faster and be out in front on the start?

Hey Jeff - tell us how it all played out. How did you make up all those spots and take over the lead on the second lap? When did you starting thinking that you were going to be able to get the win?

BTW - you're on the front page of gnccracing.com today

Posted by: worm

hahahah yea he was for sure hillbilly...i knew he was a Kentucky guy...he was blocking the track then i pulled his quad out and his grab bar was broken so it was a pain, i talked to him for a minute. he said he was tired and i siad the race just started and he said it just ended when i get to the truck...it was pretty funny.

BTW - you're on the front page of gnccracing.com today

I got a mid pack start but passed several people going into the woods. The whole first lap I tried to ride smart and just pick off the riders as they got stuck or made mistakes. At the end of lap one I was in 8th with a train of guys in front of me.
Lap 2 I picked up my pace and started passing guys and a couple passed me a time or two. I hooked up with William and passed a few more. When we came by the pits the 3 guys in front of me stopped to pit but I kept going. I thought it might put me in 2nd or 3rd. Come to find out it actually moved me into first.
I knew starting the 3rd lap that I had to pin it and not make any mistakes because the 3 that pitted would be close. When I got to the long creek section, I looked over to my left and could see Chad going the opposite direction meaning he was around 10-15 seconds back. I knew that if I made one mistake that he would probably get me. Lappers were pretty good about getting out of the way once I gave them a good holler. About 2 miles from the finish there were 2 lappers stuck in the middle of the trail with no way around them and they were not making very much effort to get going again. I actually had to tell the first guy to get on his bike, put it in 2nd and hold it wide open. Thankfully he took my advice and he came right out of the ditch. The second guy (the one directly in front me) gave it a mediocre attempt and also became stuck. I put mine in 2nd and gave him a pretty hard ram and pushed him right out of the ditch and out of the way. From then on I rode as hard as I could all the way to the finish.
It's a great feeling being up there with all the cameras flashing, people cheering and being interviewed. Needless to say I think I'm hooked on being on the podium. I'm gonna try my best to make it up there again.

You had to be pumped on that adrenaline for hours even after the race! You deserved every bit of the attention. Keep the Cannondales/ATK's alive bro!

Posted by: Ryan

Jeff, you got what it takes to get it done!

I'll be cheering for ya at Rausch.

Posted by: cheetah

A BIG congratulations to you Jeff!!! I was so excited when I heard you won, but very dissapointed that I didn't get to see you come accross that line. I said before the race this one was yours. Sadly we were still stuck in the woods broke down during the afternoon race. I yelled as you went by Smiley or someone smacked my quad on the first lap about the 2.5 where you dip into that creek and there was a bunch of lines up the hill. We were there until well after the afternoon race, but a big congrats to you and you better do it again so I can see.

I saw him at around 9 or so that night and he still had a stupid grin on his face.

He was upset about not getting to race bikes tomorrow. I guess he wanted to see if he was an Ironman!

Jeff as I was riding to the line in the morning race I stopped by your pit and talked to your dad and I called it, I said you were going to win just from seeing some parts of the track. Good job! Even though you did good i don't ever want to race in that crap ever again. Thanks for helping me with my silencer, Now that I got that fixed if it falls off again I'm just leaving it and not coming back for it.
