I just put a #40 slow jet in my 02 400ex..........had trouble keeping it started so i turned the pilot screw out to a total of 4 turns!! now it runs fine... does this sound about right or is there something else i should be checking and tweaking? It looks like the dang screw is about to fall out.
thanks ( i know jetting questions are frequent)
Ryan

install a 42 pilot jet. 4 turns out is too much on the fuel skrew. i, myself, won't go past 3. if i need to, i install a larger pilot.

from you mods though, it sounds like you would be a ways too rich on the slowjet/fuel skrew.

Also, check your idle speed. It could be set too low

You need a bigger pilot. Any time you have to go past 3 turns on the screw, you need a bigger pilot.

I noticed you have the choke removed and you're using the Outerwears lid, so you'll need at least a 42 pilot, or possibly a 45.

With my stock 38 slow jet, i didn't have a problem with the dang thing not wanting to rev past idle, NOW it starts better but wont want to get past idle until it warms up. Any comments on this? should i still go to a 42 or 45?
Thanks
