Which pipe is good???

I am going to be racing MX soon. I have been reading about the pipes out there but which one or what are some good ones for MX racing.

Thanks

Posted by: WOracing

alot of people go with the sparks or hmf. i would recomend hmf, but its up to you.

Posted by: allmixedup047

i would recomend sparks with the hrc because the hrc is for top end but with the sparks you will get your low end performance, so it will kind of equal out. but hmf makes great stuff, i dont think it will matter what you get, youll be happy.

I agree

Sparks makes the best pipes for all out hp that i have ever seen. It installed extremely easy, shipping is pretty fast, the price is very decent. It is loud, but also the best in my opinion. Sounds like a beast at the mx track.

Posted by: zwilldog

hmf bill ballance pipe is the best out to date loud and monster torque

Posted by: #1speedbump

My searching has led me to believe that the Sparks pipe is the ONE to have, also I would suggest that you use the Sparks cam over the HRC. The HRC cam will give you 5 hp at peak rpm where as the Sparks will give you 4 across the board. I know that a local shop dynoed a 450r with a Sparks pipe and a K&N proflow kit for the 450r and they got a reading of over 42 rwhp. That is without any cam. They will be doing some runs with different cams in the near future.

Pretty much there all good, buy what suits your wallet, the only one I don't like is FMF and it's only because I don't care for there light material on brackets.

Try fabbing a Supertrapp shorty and see what happens, Has any body tried wrapping their head pipe with header tape? what are the advantages there?

What about LRD?? I had an LRD on my 400ex, and I thought it put out more low end compared to the sparks my dad had on his. I'm up against the same prob, I can't decide what pipe to get for my R either. I'm thinkin about going with Duncan, because I've never tried one of their pipes before.

I think once I get a few free $$ saved I will get the HMF BB setup. I really like the look and all the Torque also!

Posted by: TCracin440ex

TC exhaust....looks good, sounds good, has that deep 4 stroke rumble, and the wb carbon fiber exhaust sounds good too...dana creech had 1 on the yfz 450 and that exhaust sounded bad arse also...TC/Sparks/Whitebros is proally the best bet

The HMF pipe productes 13ftlbs of torque and 7hp on the bottom so it definatley will help out on the low end!

I just got my HMF pipe and I was very impressed with the fit and finish, it fit perfect! I also got the quiet core with it, and it was definately a smart choice because it quiets it down with barely any loss of power from the non quiet core. By the way the red powder coated pipe looks awesome!

HOw much did u pay all together for it.?

Posted by: Woody_YFZ

DRD will have a pipe for the TRX 450 here pretty quick and they generally make an excellent pipe for mx, since that's what Dubach is known for.

Posted by: smokeu400

The new WB carbon pipe looks kick *** any one try one yet?

Posted by: jbs450r

Thanks

Posted by: zwilldog

there is a huge difference down low to midrange and sounds sweet

Posted by: Gibson Racing 6

Does anyone have dyno results with the White Bros carbon pipe

Posted by: snow4fun

Joe1l,
I was trying to view the picture you posted titled 450R w/Red HMF exhaust and can't view it. Could you try to repost or email me the photos? email: douglasc@ogden.disa.mil
How do you like the pipe? Have you raced any Bill Ballance HMF, Sparks, LRD, etc equipped bikes and what seems to work best? Thanks Scott

Posted by: PEPwalshZ440

TC!!!!!!!!

Posted by: 450rboy

do you know if they make a ct pipe for the 450r.

Posted by: kazpr

Yes I belive the CT pipe is available for orders now. I have not seen one though.

Posted by: Woody_YFZ

I think I'm going to try the DRD. I have that on my YFZ and the gains are awesome for MX (huge low to mid), so I'm expecting the same for the TRX.

Posted by: 10secKing

is everyone pretty satisfied with their 450r? just kind of curious cause i gotta a really good friend about to sell his and get a yfz and i am tryin to convince him not to.

Posted by: stiffy

I have the FMF Titanium and power bomb head pipe. major HP on the butt dyno!

Posted by: allmixedup047

i really like my 450r and i just got the hrc in this week and im really wanting to go test it out this weekend.

Posted by: PEPwalshZ440

get the TC full exhaust, that's what I just got on mine and it fuggin RIPS on the bottom to mid. It's pretty crazy. But you need a K&N and u need to run with the airbox lid off once u get this cuz ur gonna be pushin exhaust out so much easier than ur it'll run too lean if u don't.
Mike
