how is a z compared to a yfz or trx 450? is their any comparison at all? i know their is a big price difference so is the z worth the money or should i still save for one of the 450's? i have enough cash for the z but i dunno if i should hold out for a couple of months or not, or just get the z and start moddin.
Posted by: batgeek
save for the YFZ. it'll take a little cash to mod the Z to get the power outta the engine the YFZ has outta the crate.
Posted by: trict_out
for real, those things must have more *** than i ever imagined. but couldnt i have a pretty kickass z if i put the price difference in btween he 2?

IMO, if your only going to add a pipe, the HMF slipon has about the same HP gain as the full pipe. After riding the YFZ several times, I would not trade my Z for one for the trails. I like the power curve of the Z(maybe I am getting old
) I also love the seat and the reverse on the Z. I hate the seat on the YFZ! It feels like a 2x4!!!!!

LTE Duals!!

My one buddy has a full LRD on his and it is BADASS!! Huge power gains! My other friend has a full sparks on his KFX and that thing is just as sick if not a little more! I would say screw the YOSH that everyone already has and get the LRD or SPARKS. I also heard CT makes a GREAT Z full system....

am i the only guy with a MUZZY ? works great ,sound's awsome and looks good to boot
Posted by: nemesis
I like my Big Gun. Not raspy but aggressive. I think I am going to get a full Yoshi later though

No-one has a White Bros E-series? I read the shootout in dirtwheels or some ATV mag like that and they showed the dB ratings, the power gains, the seat of pants evaluation, workmanship, etc. The Yoshi discolored easily, and lost low end if I recall. The best bang for your buck would be the White Bros cause the slip on is only $220 and gave good low end while increasing top end also. Anyone want to disagree? I don't have a pipe yet but my mind was all but made up on the WB because of cost and the increased low end for woods riding.

Has anyone tried the Bill Ballance HMF pipe for the z-400. If so how did you like it compared to other pipes.

sparks

Man, no one has the DMC. That is what I have and I like it a lot! I got a real good deal on a full system. It is very, very loud too.

LRD only way to fly.
Posted by: 350Xrider
whats a good pipe with a deep throaty sound, not really loud with a "RAAWWW" sound but just nice and deep sound?

Posted by: riggsracing
but the factory 4 wasnt out yet
Posted by: MerrellR89
I have an HMF, and man is it deep and throaty. I used to have a WB E-series, and the HMF is so much more powerful.. HMF ALL THE WAY!
Posted by: QUADROOKIE
Well, I have nothing to compare mine to, but My Scorpion looks sweet, sounds really deep and throaty, (I get compliments on the sound alot), and I feel it gives good power...more so from mid to top, but I can live with that. Plus, Not many people have it so I am unique!
Posted by: Billdog350
Scorpion? Parts 411 has one for $234. Stainless steel...pretty nice. Do they have USFS spark arrestors? Also, what is the internal design, just straight thru with some packing? Do you have any dyno charts or evidence of the "big power" that these put out?
Posted by: QUADROOKIE
Mine does not have a spark arrestor...but it says either on Parts411, or the Scorpion website(cant remember where for sure) that a spark arrestor is available. It is a straight through design, but whatever they use for packing I'm not sure of but it says it never, ever has to be repacked. It had a cheesy little dyno sheet with it that basically was exactly like the white brothers r-series, about 2 HP gain but slightly more hit from mid to top end. I dont quite have my low end jetting right, so I am guessing I will get alot more from bottom end once I fix that, but it is very smooth power. I do know that Scorpion has been a huge part of street bike racing for a long time, and are very widely used and loved in that sport, so I have no doubt it is a good product, just not so widely used in the offroad market yet.

Actually, if you don't want it really loud, you can do the "pea-shooter" mod to the stock pipe. It gives it a little more of a low rumble, helps with performance, and is virtually free. Do a search at z400central.
Posted by: Billdog350
Got the pea shooter now with my dynojets, airbox lid mod, 13t front sprocket, 41t rear, 22" blackwaters....works pretty well...but I think a nice pipe will help more

Yeah them are sweet i would have to say for the other ones a HMF,pro circuit or whitebrother e series. I like my e series other than it's not to loud.
